To charity

Skater-aid is a event in the spirit of charity put on right in the city of Decatur. This year the cause spanned 10years (04-14) signing for this year as a finale. First it was launched for a skateboarder who untimely lost his life to brain cancer unbeknownst to the family or any close friends, he loved the art of being with skate friends and genuinely loved life.
It’s location was held at a really nice DIY and industrial space next to the trains just a few minutes from most hobby stores. The art gallery style made it unique and the prices seemed to be fair, with the proceeds going to charity I felt that was an expected standard.
Two contests ensued for the skating and nearly everyone entered so that was beautiful(kickflip contest and best trick) in the kickflip contest everyone comes out and kickflip as long as they can with an organized format one by one until the final guy who didn’t fall is the winner. Then the best trick contest is whoever lands the most innovative trick on the ledge is the winner.
This was a great event for art officiantos, fans of skating, the kids, and those that enjoy a productive less commercial day; Handmade hand done artwork set a beautiful backdrop for some creative sight seeing and community joy that is seldom had enough of right now as we find our way in the world lets have some un judgemental time to see our faces, goof off and have fun and make the day great and change some lives, at the end the kids get it.. not selfish whims
